S.A.T. Test schedule for Spring ’02


SAT testing dates in March are as follows:
March 18-19 Grades 3-8
July 20 Grade K
July 21-22 Grades 1-2 & 9-12

  Inside this newsletter is the registration form for all grades March S.A.T. testing. Please read the form carefully and return it to the C.E.I. Office as soon as possible so we can make adequate preparations. This will be the first opportunity for testing at CEI during this calendar year. (A second round of tests is often scheduled later in the summer, but no dates have yet been determined.)
  Testing will again be hosted by Windward Worship Center in Kaneohe. The church is located at 45-416 Kamehameha Highway. Leeward residents can take H-3 to the
SECOND Kaneohe exit, make a left on to Kamehameha Highway and “double back” to WWC about 1/2 mile North.

  The registration form for all grades S.A.T. testing is available in PDF form here. Please read the form carefully and return it to the C.E.I. College Board S.A.T.

  We have the forms to register for the College Board SAT and “Taking the SAT I Reasoning Test” in the office. You can pick these booklets up at the office or you can register online at www.collegeboard.com.


Class of 2002 Graduation Plans

  It’s that time of year again... time to get the Senior Class together to start the graduation planning process. 12th graders expecting to graduate this year and their parents/guardians are encouraged to attend the first planning meeting at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 12 at Windward Worship Center. The first meeting is very important as decisions about Graduation datess and details could be made then.  
  As a convenience, Graduation fees can now be paid with your charge card or debit card via the PayPal system on this website, www.ceischool.org. PayPal utilizes secure server technology for the processing of charge cards to safeguard your info.


High School Sports
  If you are interested in playing high school sports during the remainder of the 2001-2002 school year or in the future, please contact Scott Whipple at 247-3894 (home) or, 262-0224 (work) or e-mail slwhip@usa.net.

The sports currently available are as follows:

School Year 2001-2002
  Fall: Air Riflery & Riflery, Bowling, Kayaking, Cross-country
  Winter: Boy’s Basketball, Canoe Paddling, Soccer, Softball, Simming & Wrestling
  Spring: Baseball, Girls Basketball, Golf, Judo, Tennis and Track

School Year 2002-2003
  (Additional sports that will become available)

  Fall: Football, Volleyball & Waterpolo
  Spring: Gymnastics


Japanese Language Class
  CEI will be offering Conversational Japanese language classes this semester. The instructor will be Byron McMahon, who lived in Japan for 14 years and taught English to Japanese students. Byron is totally fluent in English and Japanese. He will be assisted by his wife, Taeko. If you are interested please call or e-mail the CEI office and leave your name and phone number or e-mail address. We will forward cost, time, and dates of classes once we know how many are interested in taking the class.

Physics Class
  Robin Spencer’s High School Conceptual Physics class for 2nd Semester began on Friday, January 4, 2002. Classes are every Friday from 3:30 pm until 4:30 pm. The lab fee for 2nd semester is $65.00 + $5.00 per class. If you are interested in signing up for 2nd semester, call or e-mail the CEI office. We still have room available for new students. Don’t miss out on this exciting, hands-on approach to Physics.
  The students will be studying linear, projectile, and rotational motion, using graphing calculators and motion detectors. We’ll learn kinematics and mechanics through various experiments, including use of dual-range force detectors and interfaces that also hook up to the graphing calculators. Finally, they will study light, sound, and
temperature through engaging activities to convey
underlying principles and properties.

Driver’s Ed Available
  His Driving Institute is offering a Drivers Education courses in Kaneohe. These classes are part of the new State of Hawaii requirements for young drivers wishing to obtain a license, and are taught by a State Certified Driving Instructor.
  The 6 week class provides the classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel road instruction required by the State of Hawaii.

Homeschool Planners

  If you are interested in purchasing a homeschool planner, you can call the CEI office or e-mail arkawamata@pdchawaii.com.
  The cost is $12.50 for 40 weeks or $14.58 for 52 weeks. This is a good way to get organized for the New Year!
